Founding and Development
- Purpose: The Hindu Devotional Society of Montreal (HDSM) was founded on Feb 21 St 1976 by a small group of dedicated Hindus from Guyana & Trinidad performing Havan sacrifice. Their primary goal & objective was to provide a place of worship, education & fellowship to perpetuate the traditions and cultural values of Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism).

- Establishment: On December 13th 1978, the name HDSM was registered with the Government of Quebec & a business charter was granted on April 15th 1980. Over many years, services were held at rented facilities & Government school (COFI) on Sundays to observe Hindu religious festivities & Parbs. On Feb 28th 1993, it was decided by the committee of management to purchase a commercial property on 332-340 LaFleur St, Ville LaSalle & converted it into a Hindu temple. HDSM Mandir was declared open with a grand religious ceremony performed by our spiritual leader Pt. Ramnarine Balbahadur on January 8th 1994.
